What does it mean being a captain?
Each team have their own team captain and it is their job to take FULL RESPONSIBILITY of their team

Who communicates with their team members?
The captain will communicate with their team members as it is their duty

Who makes sure team members attend games?
It is the captain’s responsibility to make sure at least 6 players attend games (8 maximum)

Who makes sure all team members pay fees?
It is the captain’s responsibility to make pitch payment has been paid before kick-off (failing to do so may result in disqualification)

Who communicates with the opposition captains?
The captain will communicate with other captains to speak about upcoming fixtures.

Who communicates with the website administrator?
The captain will add scores and goalscorers to the website

What happens if the captain is not available for a game or two?
A vice captain must be put in place until the captain returns

Re-arranging a game?
You can no longer re-arrange/postpone a game. If there are major issues, please make Paul Hillman aware

How many players can play?
Each team may field 6 players from a maximum squad of 8

What do we need to bring?
At least 1 football
At least 1 set of bibs/kits

How many times will teams play each other?
League: Teams will play each other twice in 1 season
Cup: Teams will play their opponent once in a knockout game

How does the league system work?
1st place in the League is crowned Champion.
The Cup winner will win the Cup

How does the point system work?
You will gain 3 points for winning a match
You will gain 1 point for drawing a match
You will gain 0 points for losing a match

What happens if teams finish on the same points?
If team’s finish on the same points at the end of the season, then the goal difference will be taken into account.
If team’s finish on the same points and the goal difference is the same, then the goals for will be taken into account (whoever has scored the most goals)

What happens if a team doesn’t turn up?
If a team doesn’t turn up, they automatically lose 5-0 and may have to pay the fees for the game. They will also be warned. If they continue to do so, it may result in disqualification. Please think about travelling teams.

What happens if a team doesn’t have enough players?
If a team doesn’t have enough players to play, they must find another player (who isn’t currently registered to a team) to play
(this may mean teams have bigger squads but only a maximum squad of 8 can play up per game)

What happens if a team folds?
If a team folds, all future games will be forfeited resulting in the opposition automatically winning 5-0.

Ollerton Astro Football and the Dukeries Academy reserve the right to make any changes to league at any point, for the good of the league.

How long do games last?
Each individual game will last 60 minutes

How many times will teams play each week?
Each team will play 1 game per week

What are the on-pitch rules?

  • There is no offside rule
  • Roll on, roll off substitutes
  • Outfield players are not allowed to score in opposition box
  • Goalkeepers are not allowed outside of their box
  • If the football hits either the side netting or the metal fence, the opposition team will be rewarded a ‘kick in’ (similar to a throw in but instead the ball is kicked)
  • At the start of each match, both captains will decide on which side of the pitch they will play (if there is some difficulty, a coin may be flipped)
  • Kick-offs are started from the Goalkeeper. At the beginning of a match, the referee will decide who kick-off. When a goal is scored, the conceding team will kick-off.
  • Other than the above, all normal football rules apply!

When should I arrive?
All team members MUST be prompt on arrival and be there 15 minutes before kick-off

  • x1 yellow card
    The player will get a warning
  • x2 yellow cards
    The player will get a red card
  • x1 red card
    The player must go off the pitch for 10 minutes to cool off. Another player cannot come on until that player has served his cooling off period.

Head heights?
The ball can be played above the players’ heads.

Slide tackling?
You cannot slide tackle. If you do slide tackle, it will count as a foul.

How much is it to play a game?
It costs £25 per team (per game).
